Let the adventure begin! Guatemala is definitely different from Mexico. I'm much more conspicuous here, with people yelling "gringo" all the time. The terrain is amazing - sharp peaks covered in foliage. Reminds me of Cat Ba Is. in Vietnam.

I was wondering if I would ever find a place to stay. Eventually I found the only place for many kilometers; a guesthouse in a town which is at the top of a very steep hill. Cost: 10 quetzales (about US$1.40.)

The roads have gotten much worse, which slows progress. They don't have speedbumps here, but they don't really need them either.
