I don't know what kind of meteorological phemomena is responsible but it is COLD. Yesterday I was dehydrated and hot, today I am freezing. I rode 55k in the morning, and after realizing that I was only getting sicker, decided to take a "taxi" (the bed of a pickup in the rain) for the next 30k or so. I ended up in a tiny village, which seems to consist of one building: a store/resaurant/"hotel" (with one room.) There is no electricity here. It is so cold that all the locals are whining and shivering. They assure me that this is not normal. None of this is helping my cold. Tomorrow I am going to take a bus to Tegucigalpa and find a hotel with HOT water and recover for a day or two.
