Peruvians may be some of the nicest people in the world, but they can't tell a kilometer from a kilowatt, a climb from a descent, or a good road from a hole in the ground (or many holes, as the case may be.) My "all downhill on good roads" ride yesterday certainly had some amazing downhills, but it also had 30km of climbing, and the roads were crap. And no one bothered to mention the swarms of wasps along the way. I thought that I would be safe if I kept moving, but no, one managed to nail me in the inner thigh while I was busy navigating a gravel road at 40+ k/h.

Today I have a fairly easy 50 k/h ride on pavement (or so they tell me) to Cusco. Then I'll prepare to hike the Inca Trail. I'll probably leave Cusco in about 5 days.
