30 APR - Blantyre, Malawi

Date received: Mon Apr 30 2001, 02:56 AM PDT

Well, Blantyre is a much nicer place than Lilongwe, as far as Malawian cities go. We found great Indian food last night, which was quite a treat given the lack of variety of food in Africa.

We are here enroute to Mulanje, a mountainous region about 90km from here. We plan on hiking for two days and camping.

Both Emily and I both seem to agree that while we like Malawi, we want to get moving on to Zimbabwe, so after a couple of days of hiking, we are going to cut through Mozambique and get to Harare, where we hope to arrange a canoeing trip on the Zambezi through Mana Pools park.
