I ran into a fellow Californian a couple of days ago who will be climbing Mt. Kenya, so I've decided to join him. I will be doing that in a week. In the meantime, I need to get out of Nairobi before I go crazy. It's hard to walk around without having someone try to sell me some tourist package or another.
Speaking of tourist packages, I am going on "safari" tomorrow, for 4-7 days. I will be going game-watching in Masai Mara park (the northern part of the Serengetti which is in Kenya) as well as Ngorogoro crater. I don't really like touristy package trips, but I can't think of another way to go out and see some animals. I am in East Africa after all. So I'll just kick back and relax for a few days.
I've also rented a high-power zoom for the occasion (400mm f5.6 for you camera buffs) and loaded up on some professional high speed film, so that I can get some good animal shots. If I am going to bother, I might as well do it right.
I will be out of contact for 4-7 days.
